This really is an amazing place to visit. The stones can be seen on the approach road to the car park but the main circles are so much larger - in fact they're enormous. We arrived just before 1pm a… Full review by annsU7132AZ

Beautiful small village with impressive stones. Easy walking trials and have pubs and cafe nearby. Perfect for dog walks. Full review by K A
Hi, I'm travelling up on my scooter from Bournemouth, on the way to Cardiff , I'm staying near by for one night and wondered if I will see much via scooter, not just of the stones but other sights Thanks...this will be my 1st trip alone by bike so I'd like to see as much as possible on my travels as I'm a keen photographer

Hi, The village of Avebury is beautiful itself. The barn is NT but interesting and has a good cafe nearby. The manor is good to look at and will offer tremendous views through gateways for your photography. My father was an artist and this was certainly his favourite site to work at. The circle itself is extensive and walking the full perimeter is possible. Make sure you find the tree with the exposed roots, this is a photographer's dream find. Very eastern part of the circle, emerging Herepath / Green street. Go early in the morning if you can, to give visitor-free shots. It gets very busy. Silbury Hill is within walking distance but do check on satellite as parking may not be so easy there. The ancient Ridgeway footpath will take you to the hill if you want to walk. Youwill need to ride to West Kennet Long Barrow, wear good shoes for the 1 Km walk from the road. Enjoy your visit.
How much time should I allow to visit the most of the sites; the museum (some refer to it as the visitor center or interpretive center), the several hills and mounds, and the several stone circles and spirals? Is four hours ample time?

Four hours is plenty and probably includes time for coffee. If you’re visiting by car then split it into two, firstly park in the NT car park and visit the main circle, museum and ideally the manor house (book ahead or as soon as you arrive). Then coffee / snack in the cafe or Red Lion. Then move the car to the Silbury Hill car park, followed by a walk to West Kennet Long Barrow. If you have any time left over then you can visit Devil’s Den (remains if a burial feature) or Fyfield Down (Sarcen stones all over the hillside). Enjoy your visit, it’s fantastic
