Hi there, When we went it was that soft squashy ground like you get on baby soft play areas outdoors but that was for the toddle bit say 2/3 ages upwards. I wouldn't personally let baba crawl as there were the odd stones kicked over from the bigger kids part. sorry I couldn't be anymore helpful. X
