It is the most populous township in Barry County. Thornapple Township is located in the northwest corner of Barry County. It includes the village of Middleville. Michigan state highway M-37 passes through the center of the township, leading southeast 11 miles to Hastings, the county seat, and 22 miles north to downtown Grand Rapids. The Thornapple River, a tributary of the Grand River, flows from south to north through the middle of the township.
