Hi Jim .... you can park at the Beach Park (there is a fee based on an hourly rate) and watch the ships leave from there. If you want a closer look, you can still park at the park and walk down to the inlet which is about 5,000 feet. HOWEVER .. be aware that walking down to the inlet will take you through private beaches and sometimes someone will stop you. I have been stopped once but most of the time, no issues. Joe
