A huge edifice along Sussex Drive. It looks like a castle. Costs about $12 to get in and takes about an hour. Fantastic and very informative Full review by PBPG

This is a secure facility with million of dollars of gold and silver used to cut the collector coins.Your tour is above the working area which is glassed in. There are armed guards at entrances, security cameras throughout and you are not allowed to take any pictures. The tours are in small groups and without the guided tour, it would be difficult to know about the coin making process.
Q:
Are you able to take pictures on the tour?
A:
No, it’s not permitted.

Hi...you don't need to reserve unless it is a huge group like a tour bus size. Tours come every 45 minutes more or less depending how many per group. The waiting area is quite nice as it is in the gift shop and you can look at the coins and collections, ask questions before and after the tour. Plus washrooms available too. During the week, you can see the workers making the collection or limited edition coins. If still not sure, you can always give them a call and they would be happy to answer any other questions you have. They are so nice there.

It is true that the machines are shut down for the weekend tours. I still found it worthwhile to visit the mint just to see all the equipment and some of the processes. If you are interested in seeing the machines in action, best to visit during the weekdays when the mint is up and running. Might also be a little less people in there as well. Hope you get to enjoy a tour someday!
