I don't remember when the Center started but its been more than 15 years ago, because my kids worked there. Dr. Burkhardt Phol founded the center. He is from Germany. As happens with many dinos, the actual bones are too heavy to work in displays on the larger dinos. So casts are made. Jimbo is just that, a cast. I'm 6'5" and barely come to its knee! It is HUGE! Call the center and ask for the director to get information on how many people visit. They come from all over the world. Each year, interns volunteer to work at the center and dig sites. They not only build their knowledge, but all their palontological skills, such as in fossil preparations--which visitors can watch. My own classes found an unexcavated dino on year. While we were having a field lab, we noticed the end of a large bone (femur) sticking out of the ground just above a student. When it was later excavated, it turned out to be a type of stegasuar. We also found 3 other sites of unexcavated dino bones while doing a plant study. There are a LOT of bones to be worked on here.

Hello, Allison! Our dig sites tours last about an hour and a half, including twenty minutes for travel to and from the sites. You will get a brief overview of the history and prehistory of the area, learn about the digging process, and visit at least two active dinosaur dig sites. Our tour is designed so everyone can learn and enjoy the science of paleontology. This is a great experience for all ages - you have our guarantee. Thank you for your question, and we hope you'll take a prehistoric journey with us this summer!
Q:
How much does it cost for adults and do u take checks cash or cards
A:
They take all forms of money. I think that it is about $10 for adults. We went in with 4 kids 4yrs and younger and spent less than $30 from what I can remember.
