I want to do this tour...but hesitant. How hardcore is the hike up the volcano? I'm scared of heights...and I'm going solo...so the ascend and descend of the volcano hike is my big worry vs the car down. I will use hiking polos. It's costly so I'm wondering if I should skip and do a lava tunnel or its doable?! Thanks

Most of the hike was flat along the landscape and the last bit actually up the volcano is like climbing 4-5 flights of stairs. The guides were super helpful and took the time for all skill levels.
What tour company did you use? I don't want a Grey Line experience.

We booked directly on the website with Inside the Volcano. They have their own transport which picks you up at your hotel, or you can drive yourself, which is what we did.
