Did several treks around the base of the volcano - great vistas and perfect to get of the beaten track. Also did the chair-lift - equally nice way to finish the day. Full review by wstokes1965

In the charming beach town of Pucón, Volcán Villarrica can be seen (and photographed) from many places, but the most famous viewpoint is located in the marina on a short wooden bridge; Mirador La Poz… Full review by Christian M

I doubt it very much (no creo). When I ascended the volcano, it was summer and the guides were always looking for excellent weather (blue sky and no clouds). You have to have good visibility to be safe. Also, you don't want to climb in bad / rainy weather, once some of the best aspects of the adventure is the awesome view up there.
Is it possible to climb with kids? I have 3 boys ages 7, 11 and 13, good hikers. We expect to be in pucon in mid december. Thank you!

I climbed Mount Villarica in mid October. I would think that you should have no trouble in mid May if there has not been any snow fall lower on the slopes. It is a ski resort on the lower part of the mountain proper. I live in the Southern Hemisphere in a similar climate zone and our snow in the mountains rarely comes as early as May. The top part of the mountain was covered in snow so you do have to walk through it at all times of the year. The main difficulty is with rarified air as the summit is about 3000m. However the view is amazing. When I climbed it, you could see three smoking volcanos north of Villarica.
Is there a need to book a tour of Villarrica (volcano) in advance (going Feb 21-23, 2017). We see several notes that this is a high travel time in Chile. Thanks.

No need! There are plenty of companies but if you'd like to contact Summit Chile. Have a blast!
