Hi. You do have to pay a day visitor's fee per vehicle at the National Park. I can't remember how much it is, but it is only a modest amount. At the little information bay there, you put cash into an envelope which is provided. National Parks website would have the day fee amount listed.
Does it get fully booked out over Christmas/New Year? We are wanting to come over 2nd January. Thanks

I don't think so if you want to do the hike. Make contact with the Tenterfield Tourist Information Centre on phone number: (02) 6736 1082 and they should be able to help with that question.
Good bitumen from Tenterfield. If you are travelling from Stanthorpe, there are a few km of good gravel. Watch out for roo's - there are heaps of them.
