When we visited it was free and open to the public with very knowledgeable tour guides. I think it is part of the Peabody Essex Museum and this was on their web site: House Tours: Experience two centuries of New England life, art, and architecture through the museum's National Historic Landmark houses. A variety of tours of the Gardner-Pingree (1804) and John Ward (ca. 1684) houses are available. Topics and times vary; visit the admissions desk or the information desk for reservations. House tours are included with museum admission.
