Many people celebrated the holidays across the Chicago area Sunday. A menorah lighting was held on the North Side and others visited the Chicago Christmas Tree in Millennium Park.

A cloudy and mild day is ahead for Christmas Eve in Chicago. Tuesday's highs will be in the 40s. A few showers are possible early Christmas Day with a chance of patchy drizzle and fog. Temperatures are expected to rise into the 50s by the end of the week.

It has been a mild Christmas with cloudy skies and highs in the upper 30s and low 40s. Occasional drizzle has been falling in the far south suburbs and into NW Indiana. Tonight will be mild with lows only dropping a few degrees into the mid 30s.

A mild start to Christmas Eve with temperatures warming into the middle and upper 70s this afternoon. There will be a mix of sun and clouds with an isolated coastal shower chance. Mild and partly cloudy again tonight with lows in the middle and upper 60s.

That holds true for Christmas Eve, too, which should mostly be a silent night. Christmas Day will be mild but significantly cooler than the 59 degree high temperature on the date a year ago. Expect a high of around 40 degrees.

A seasonably mild start will give us a warmer finish amid mostly cloudy skies and highs in the middle to upper 50s. A few showers could impact eastern Arkansas late in the day. Scattered showers could impact Santa’s travels to the Mid-South Tuesday night into early Wednesday.
