Mark Daniels of MassLive is reporting that New England Patriots legend Dont’a Hightower is out as inside linebackers coach after one season. Daniels also reports that outside linebackers coach Mike Wilkins will not be returning in 2025.

New England Patriots inside linebackers coach Dont’a Hightower and outside linebackers coach Drew Wilkins will not be returning to the coaching staff in 2025, according to Mass Live’s Mark Daniels on Monday. Hightower took over as the outside linebackers coach last February. Wilkins was also hired last season as part of Jerod Mayo’s staff

Under Covington and Jerod Mayo, the Patriots defense regressed mightily in 2024. They finished 22nd in both total defense and scoring defense, and the scoring defense mark was New England’s worst since 1995. Bill Belichick’s teams never finished lower than 17th.
