Sunday will start off quiet, but mild. A line of heavy rain and gusty winds may cross the region from west to east through the afternoon. There’s a low-end chance of localized, strong to severe storms as the front crosses. Right now, the great risk appears to be strong winds.

We’re giving you the First Alert to a few more clouds and rain chances as we head into the weekend. While each day won’t be enough to cancel plans, expect a few showers around with more clouds by the end of the week.

An approaching low pressure system will make for a rainy and windy night in the Mid-South with up to an inch of rain possible for many areas including Memphis. Another system will bring more rain and possibly strong storms to the Mid-South Saturday followed by a mild and calmer pattern to end the year.

As we head to the weekend, rain returns to the forecast. Scattered showers start up Friday, but it won’t be a washout at all. It will be much cooler though. Highs only warm to the mid 40s for Friday afternoon.
