Lawmakers from the liberal Democratic Party agreed unanimously on Tuesday to pursue an impeachment motion against acting President Han Duck-soo over his refusal to consider two bills to establish special counsel probes into Yoon and his wife.

South Korea's main opposition party vowed on Tuesday to impeach acting president Han Duck-soo but reversed an earlier plan and decided to wait until later in the week, party officials said, as the risk of further political uncertainty heightened.

The main opposition Democratic Party of Korea said Tuesday it will push ahead with the impeachment process for acting President Han Duck-soo, on the coattails of him snubbing the opposition's demand to promulgate special counsel bills targeting the president and first lady and calling for a parliamentary "compromise" on current issues.
