The snowfall started late Friday night and stole away before sunrise on Saturday. Measuring in the one-to-two-inch range over a significant portion of the Washington region, it threw a new white coating over dry and bare places from which Monday’s snowfall had been patiently cleared.

This system will start initially as snowfall Friday afternoon and evening; however, freezing rain and sleet will mix in with the snow Friday night due to warmer air in the upper levels of the atmosphere.

SNOW Light snow will fall across the Boston area Saturday morning, tapering off by midday. Most areas will see a coating to around an inch of accumulation, though slightly higher totals are possible along the coastline thanks to ocean enhancement.
