CHICAGO - Flurries and very light snow are possible across the southern suburbs on Sunday afternoon. A major winter storm system is cutting across central and southern Illinois and into central and southern Indiana heading east. Several inches of snowfall is expected, so much so that the Indiana National Guard was activated to respond to the storm.

Some parts of the Chicago area were waking up to light snow showers Friday morning, with a cold and blustery day ahead followed by sub-zero wind chills and the potential for more snow to fall as a winter storm moves into Illinois.
