India doubled its tiger population in a little over a decade by protecting the big cats from poaching and habitat loss, ensuring they have enough prey, reducing human-wildlife conflict, and increasing communities’ living standards near tiger areas.

In just over a decade, India has doubled its tiger population to more than 3,600, accounting for 75% of the world's tigers. These tigers now inhabit an area of 138,200 sq km (53,360 sq miles) - roughly half the size of the UK - alongside some 60 million people.
