C anadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is stepping down as the leader of the ruling Liberal Party, following months of pressure from partymates to resign amid increasingly poor public approval ratings.

Following more than a year of plummeting poll numbers and surging pressure from within his own caucus to step aside, Justin Trudeau told Canadians Monday that he will resign as Liberal leader and prime minister as soon as a new leader is chosen.
