President Donald Trump, who has criticized state and local leaders over what he calls faulty water-management policies that he says contributed to the region's deadly wildfires -- suggesting federal aid should be withheld until changes are made -- arrived in Los Angeles Friday to get a firsthand look at the destruction.

In a meeting with local, state and congressional leaders, Trump assured them "the federal government is standing behind you 100%."

After a tour of areas damaged by the California wildfires, the president sparred with local leaders and blamed them for a wide variety of issues affecting the disaster response.
