PHOENIX — Phoenix police are investigating a double shooting in a residential neighborhood early Thursday morning. The incident occurred around 4:20 a.m. in the area of 35th Avenue and Bethany Home Road. Police say two adult victims were found at the scene with gunshot wounds. Both were taken to hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.
Phoenix police made an arrest in the shooting of four people in downtown Phoenix early Sunday morning. Police say the suspect — 22-year-old Keon Joubert — did not appear to know the victims and they likely weren’t his intended targets.
Since 2023, both criminal homicides and total violent crime have been trending downward in the nation’s fifth-largest city. Phoenix police data for 2025, available through the third quarter, covers January through September. During that period, investigators handled 84 homicide cases, according to the department.
