A pub has stoked a controversy after it sent condoms and ORS sachets to its guests along with the New Year's Eve party invitation.

Zaid Khan, a representative of the pub, maintained that the items in the package were thoughtfully included to promote responsible partying and that no one had expressed offence at the package. He also said that the hamper contained pre- and post-knickknacks,

The controversy reportedly started after some of the guests posted pictures of the invite on Facebook for everyone to see. The inspector said that the pub has cancelled the party. Meanwhile, officials are investigating the matter and they have taken statements of some of the guests for enquiry.

The Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress approached Pune Police Commissioner to lodge a complaint, asking the police department to take cognisance of the matter.

Akshay Jain of Maharashtra Pradesh Youth Congress said, “It has come to our notice that a pub has sent an invitation to its regular customers which contains condom and ORS."
