Sea turtle found on north Oregon coast was already dead, aquarium says

When sea turtles are found on Oregon or Washington beaches it’s usually due to hypothermia, and they rarely survive, the aquarium said. Those that do live are taken to the Oregon Coast Aquarium or the Seattle Aquarium. When stabilized, the turtle is transferred to a center in California, where it is released back into the wild in warmer waters.

Sea turtle found dead at Sunset Beach

A 40-pound olive ridley sea turtle was found dead on Monday after washing ashore at Sunset Beach near Fort Stevens State Park. According to a press release from the Seaside Aquarium, the stranding was caused by recent storm systems from the south.
