A Suffolk County cop was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries after his patrol car was involved in a nasty crash on the Long Island Expressway Sunday night, according to police. The crash happened around 6:10 p.m. near exit 55 in Brentwood, Suffolk County police said.

A police helicopter landed near the crash site between Exits 55 and 56 and took the officer to a hospital, police said.
