In Oklahoma, red flag warnings are issued when conditions such as high temperatures, low humidity, and strong winds create a heightened risk of wildfires, urging residents to take extra precautions.

Winds are expected to gust up to 60 mph for parts of eastern Oklahoma on Friday. Along with strong winds, dry vegetation, low humidity and warm temperatures, the wildfire threat will be extreme.

After a beautiful day on Thursday, Oklahomans will need to prepare for a high fire danger risk on Friday as strong wind gusts will blow through the state.

The Oklahoma Forestry Service says its roughly 100 firefighters will be prepared to work with local departments, likely in parts of central and western Oklahoma, ahead of forecasted fire threats.
