The wind will subside Thursday as a cold air blast moves into the Philadelphia area, bringing the first chance of snow for the New Year on Friday. Flurries and light snow showers could fall to end the week, before an even greater chance of a winter storm next week.

Frigid, icy conditions will continue through the end of the week, and snow is possible Saturday in the Philadelphia area.
