When Boston College won the Hockey East regular season title over the weekend to earn the No. 1 seed, the team knew where and when it would be playing in the conference tournament. However, the Eagles had to wait to find out their opponent for the quarterfinals until after the opening round of games on Wednesday night.

Boston College, the Hockey East regular-season champion, shut out Merrimack to close out the schedule, and third-place Boston University rolled past Vermont.

Cameron Corhen and Brandin Cummings each scored 16 points as Pittsburgh snapped a four-game losing streak with a 93-67 rout of Boston College in the regular-season finale on Saturday.

Hockey East announced its season awards on Wednesday. The recipients of the individual awards featured two Boston College players. Eagles forward Ryan Leonard earned a pair of honors, the Scoring Title and the Three Stars Award.

The Maine men’s hockey team is back hosting The Black Bears made it to the conference semifinals last year at TD Garden. The group is drawing on that experience and its work ethic for its belief after going 0-1-1 at UMass to close out the regular season.

With the performance, Boston College stayed atop the USCHO rankings nearly unanimous with 48 first-place votes and 998 points. Michigan State remained at No. 2 with two first-place votes and 949 points, followed by Western Michigan at No. 3 with 889, Maine at No. 4 with 790, and Minnesota rounded out the top five with 785.
