Texas labor unions continued to strongly support Republican incumbent Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, as the Teamsters officially backed his reelection bid. Teamsters Joint Council 58 and Joint Council 80, which represent 40,000 rank-and-file Teamsters across Texas, endorsed Abbott on Thursday, Feb. 5.

Abbott is 68 years old and was born Nov. 13, 1957. He was born in Wichita Falls, Texas. When he was 12 years-old, Abbott's family moved to Duncanville, Texas, his campaign website said. Abbott has served as Texas' governor since 2014 and is seeking his fourth term in the 2026 midterm election.
