South Korea's anti-corruption agency detains impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol over his brief declaration of martial law.

South Korea’s impeached president, Yoon Suk Yeol, was detained in a major law enforcement operation at the presidential compound, defiantly insisting the anti-corruption agency didn’t have the authority to investigate his actions but saying he complied to prevent violence.

T HE PRESIDENCY of South Korea can be a treacherous job. Past office-holders have been impeached and even assassinated. But until January 15th, when investigators took Yoon Suk Yeol into custody, a sitting president had never been arrested.
