Locksley has never coached in the NFL before. Prior to joining Maryland as their head coach, he spent three years at Alabama ultimately becoming their offensive coordinator. He’s been with the Terrapins since 2019 and after a rough first two seasons (5-12, 3-11 Conference Record combined), Maryland showed signs of improvement in 2021.

It would be a role reversal from 2009 through 2011, when Schottenheimer served as offensive coordinator with the Jets under Ryan. The pairing worked. They ended up in back-to-back AFC Championships with Schottenheimer running the offense and Ryan running the show.
