KENSINGTON, Md. — A water main break in Kensington has disrupted traffic and temporarily left nearby residents without water.

The break occurred in the same neighborhood as a much larger break that devastated homeowners back in June 2024.

STUART − A water main break on Southwest Federal Highway Friday evening forced some closures of southbound lanes, a Stuart police spokesperson said.

In June, neighbors near Allerton Ave. in GR had their homes flooded due to a water main break. After Thursday's break, neighbors are worried it will happen again.

The break occurred in the same neighborhood as a much larger break that devastated home owners back in June 2024.

City Manager Nick Sanford estimates 400-500 people were impacted. The city is under a boil advisory through Saturday.
