With supermarkets predicted to be bustling in the coming days, it's worth noting that due to New Year's Day falling on a Wednesday and being a bank holiday, regular opening hours for stores such as Aldi, Tesco, Asda, Lidl and Morrisons will not apply.

Similar to Asda, Tesco's opening times will vary depending on the store you are visiting. The retailer has said that the majority of its Extra and Superstores are open from 9am to 6pm, with Express stores open from am to 7pm, with some closing at 6pm.
