At least one Mega Millions player has plenty of dough to ring in the New Year after drawing the winning number. After three months without anyone winning the top prize in the lottery, a ticket worth an estimated $1.

The winning ticket that matched the numbers 3, 7, 37, 49 and 55, plus the gold Mega Ball 6 during Friday's drawing was sold in Cottonwood, California, about 200 miles north of San Francisco, Mega Millions said in a statement.

Advice from state lottery officials to the winner: “sign the back of the ticket, keep it safe and don’t lose it.”
