Three months after reports surfaced about a cyberattack, called Salt Typhoon, targeting internet service providers and US wiretapping infrastructure, two of the largest telecom companies say they've made progress securing their networks against the threat.

AT&T blamed China for the hack. Verizon said a 'small number of high-profile customers in government and politics were specifically targeted' by a nation-state threat actor.

AT&T Inc. and Verizon Communications Inc. acknowledged that they’d been hit by the China-linked Salt Typhoon hacking operation but that their networks were now clear from the intrusion.

Verizon and AT&T have confirmed that they came under attacks from state-linked Salt Typhoon operation, but assure that their networks are now operating safely.
