Out-of-control wildfires are ripping across parts of Los Angeles, leading to at least five deaths, burning down hundreds of buildings, and prompting more than 130,000 people to flee their homes in America's second-largest city.

As of Friday afternoon, six wildfires were burning across Los Angeles County, including a fresh one that had ignited just hours earlier.

Despite the catastrophic damage, all-encompassing stress and unhealthy air quality, many neighbors have stepped up to assist one another.

Boulder Fire-Rescue said it received a resource request to help with the fires in southern California that have devastated the Los Angeles area. It’s one of several agencies to get the call and FOX31's Nate Belt spoke to the firefighters deploying about how they prepare.
