Nov 6, 2010 · The one you're looking at is a copy of the Consew 206, and the Tacsew 111. If it's an FY 5318 it has reverse, lockstitch, and a walking foot. They sell new for about $600 on E-Bay. I have no idea of the quality of the machine. It will work fine for most auto upholstery work. _____

Feb 17, 2010 · Nylon thread is slightly stronger than polyester, but the Sunguard polyester thread I use handles UV rays better, so it is better for sewing things that will be outside in the sun, like a boat interior or boat cover, or a convertible top. Yes, you could use either one in auto upholstery.

The problem with this machine is that it only has 7 1/2" space to the right of the needle, and for auto upholstery, that would be tough to use. It only has 5/16" of lift, and only has a 1/10th HP motor. It costs around $700.00.

May 2, 2011 · Yes, your machine uses "G" bobbins. I use pre-wound bobbins whenever I can. I keep black, white, and beige around all the time because 90% of sewing is with those three colors. I only wind bobbins for the odd colors like red, orange, etc. All my suppliers have them available, but they only sell to upholstery shops.
