Jul 4, 2023 · All automakers do that. IIRC last quarter they built about 20k more cars than they delivered, which equates to a 16 day supply, which is really short supply. The difference with Tesla is they have to sell the cars them selves. The traditional automakers force the dealers to buy the cars from them and the dealer has to deal with finding the buyer.

That said, when Tesla was discounting inventory cars 11% last quarter, I didn't see demo cars being marked down more than 1-2% on top. That said, unless the demo had very low miles, I'd pass. In fact I'm betting my own money prices will drop again by End of Year.

Either way, the inventory cars are priced as marked and first come, first served. A car that sits for awhile might get cheaper, or it might get bought at the current price and you miss out. I bought my car when it dropped from 41240(full price, same as a custom order with the same spec) to 40000.
