Oct 31, 2024 · Current setup is Thunberbolt to HDMI cable for each. Does it make sense to do the same with new Thunderbolt 4 to HDMI cables? Or one HDMI to HDMI cable and a hub from one Thunderbolt that has an HDMI port and other ports? Can any USB-C hub connect to the Thunderbolt 4 port or do I have to get a Thunderbolt 4 specific hub?

May 19, 2019 · Is it possible to plug a thunderbolt hub into the thunderbolt port in my Mac mini late 2012? I'm looking to gain an extra USB 2 port which can be used solely for a music synthesiser, as I'm currently experiencing sync issues through USB the ports. Can you recommend a hub if this is possible please? os is high sierra. thanks

So normally the issue would be that you tried to plug something into a front-panel port that needs a protocol only available in the back. (Like a display or display adapter; or a hub that has both HDMI and USB-A ports.)

Also, as Thunderbolt 2 and 3 are backwards compatible in terms of connection type, you will have a much easier time finding Thunderbolt devices than FireWire in most regions. USB will be the easiest to find.
