The new Outlook for Windows will be pre-installed on new Windows devices and devices running Windows 11 version 23H2. If you're new to Windows 11 SV2 and above, you'll see new Outlook pinned to the Start menu starting September 2023.

When you are in Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint apps and you want to share a file that is saved locally on your device (not stored in a cloud location), the new Outlook for Windows will show up as a share target and you will be able to easily share the file via email.

The switch to new Outlook is meant to streamline your experience and will be a one-time switch aimed at helping you try the new Outlook experience and to share your feedback. If you're already receiving automatic Office updates there's nothing for you to do.
