Sep 9, 2020 · It needs MUCH LOWER GEARS than the 1.86 that is used to turn the 1.5/1.6 tracks at sea level, probably 2.05 or lower. Perhaps the 1.95 and the 2.11 gears should TRADE places in the Polaris 850 SBA 146 chart.

Dec 1, 2016 · Lower gearing will give you more torque in the 2500 - 8000 rpm region before the clutches start to shift. Once the clutches start to shift, the change in CVT ratio negates the lower chain case ratio. The higher chain case ratio will require you to lower the primary clutch weights.

Dec 13, 2022 · Don't touch your 22 XCR gearing if Top Speed is your intention. Check for proper track tension, clean primary clutch face and give it the sharpie stripe all the way up to the top. Adjust belt tension to proper spec.

Nov 15, 2022 · If you go up two sizes on the bottom, you will almost always have to get a new chain, so plan on that as well. The chain will probably be more expensive than a top sprocket would be. At least it is on the few Polaris chaincases I have changed out over the years.

Mar 5, 2022 · Gearing down is never a bad thing. It just lets the motor and clutching pull it easier. Compared to most Polaris sleds, the ASB's and RMK's are pretty close on gearing. Gearing lower will also let you go even more aggressive at the clutching.
