NOTICE: City of Shelby offices will be closed on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, December 24-26 in observance of the Christmas holiday. Solid waste collection for the week of Christmas will be as follows: *Monday and Tuesday's route will be collected on Monday, December 23.

The City of Shelby’s new online Permit Portal, GovWell, went live on Monday, September 23, 2024. Starting on that date, all new planning, zoning, and building applications must be submitted through the portal at www.cityofshelby.com/PermitPortal .
The City of Shelby has a Council/Manager form of government. City Council is the policy making and legislative body of City government and includes a Mayor and six Council members. The City Manager serves at their discretion as Chief Operating Officer.
