I'm playing rdr2 with quality dlss enabled, and quite frankly, im stunned by how good it looks at 1440p. Its not perfect, but with a 2060 super, im pushing past 60 fps most of the time with all high and ultra lighting, shadows, GI, reflection and a mix of high and medium on the rest.

Feb 2, 2022 · Use DLSS Quality, the newer verisons of DLSS 2.3 and up produce very good results. Nvidia badly mislabels DLSS in game settings. "Performance" should be called "low quality", it gives it a very bad name becuase a lot of people would turn that on thinking it runs better and it just looks like garbage.

May 3, 2023 · The difference between DLSS and FSR is minor at most, and how good it is will depend a lot more on which game you're playing and the quality of the implementation more than the tech itself. Ray tracing is what it is, I personally don't care for it, but my wife does. That is even more dependent on implementation than FSR/DLSS.

Dec 28, 2022 · RDR2 is one of these. Native 4k with the TAA sharpen slider at the default value of a few ticks looks more detailed than DLSS quality. DLSS quality there looks like exactly what it is: a game being rendered at 1440p but with some enhancements to it. DLSS can also cause visible artifacts/weirdness in some games.

Feb 14, 2024 · AI Generated frames will be as good or BETTER than native frames because they can eventually correct issues rather than have issues. People prefer the "fake frames" just like they prefer DLSS upscaling in many situations now as its proven better than native. The entire latency issue is overblown.

RDR2 1080p DLSS Quality is working fairly good with TTA sharpening at 0 (completely empty bar), and you can even use it alongside DLDSR 1.78x, which gives you an even better sharp image. Some still face some kind of image retention which makes the screen looks like an oil painting (mainly at night and/or withing forest areas) though.

Jan 7, 2025 · The good thing here for all the RTX-gen cards seems to be that the continual "floor-raising" of the perfomance mode means that you can conceivably go from the DLSS quality mode down to balanced or maybe even performance mode without any meaningful degradation of IQ. Potentially massive DPS gain without any real downsides.

DLSS works by taking a certain percentage of the native resolution on either axis and upscaling from there, so Quality, Balanced etc are always the same percentage of the base axis' from DLSS version 2.0 onwards. Quality is 66.67% (2/3) of the base resolution on either axis. Balanced is around 57%. Performance is exactly half, so 50%.

I have a 65" OLED and Hellblade rendered internslly at 720p with DLSS almost looks the same as native 4K with TAA.
