J 92 Opinions - Sailing Anarchy Forums
Oct 13, 2004 · I've sailed on J92 USA 43 (a 1994 I think) for about 6 years and love the thing. I race on a J35 now and miss the 92 like hell. We always did very well in mixed fleets. Won Lake Champlain's lake wide series a few years ago. I'm a poor college student, but when I get a real job a J92 will be on the list of things for me to buy.

Jan 9, 2017 · Rags' headstay length is exactly the same as Thin Man's. I stayed with wire for the shrouds but increased the size of the mids to 3/16" Then last year all the standing rigging was replaced with compacted wire (fka Dyform).

Aug 16, 2008 · Comparo: J/92 has 155% LP genoa and 91-95 s/m fractional assy's. Average PHRF is 105. J/92S has 108% LP jib (due to outboard shrouds and taller rig), 85 s/m masthead assy's and redesigned foils.

Jan 30, 2010 · J35 (PHRF--66-72 sec/mile) gives the J92 approximately 30 minutes in a 54 hr., 330 mile Mac race. Bottomline-it is extremely tough to sail the J92 to its ORR rating unless the winds are light to moderate in close reaching conditions. The J29 is a great boat, but I prefer our J92. We are very competitive
