Mac Mini 256GB SSD users: How is your experience
Dec 26, 2024 · I have an M2 base model Mac mini. 8gb ram 256gb ssd. The only files on my SSD is the OS and apps. Everything else is stored on external storage. Yes, sometimes I run out of RAM and swap to disk. Life goes on. The machine runs perfectly well even when swapping to disk. I’m in no hurry to replace it with an M4.

Dec 25, 2024 · My old Mini is a 2020 refresh of the 2018 Mini, with 1 TB and 32 GB of RAM. The data from the old Mini won't fit on the new Mini's smaller SSD. Hence, the external SSD. The largest portion of the data is photos; roughly 65GB. I assumed that would go on the external drive. My old Mini is backed up on two external hard drives, via USB-A.

Feb 9, 2016 · Yeah I saw the ssd update. It looked nice. My issue Is pretty simple I don't need more than 24gb ram but I do need 4tb ssd and the base model could give us a 4tb ssd option. So the base model with 4tb could have been offered. I would need to buy a pro and pay quite a bit more for things I need.

Oct 6, 2020 · So, for my M4 Mac mini, I went with 512 GB internal, and a 4 TB external USB 4 SSD. My internal SSD has 290 GB free. The one issue that crept up on the M1 Mac mini though was that the Samsung 2 TB USB 3.2 drive would occasionally disconnect at sleep and then automatically reconnect at wake.
