After the war the interior of Pendarves House caught fire, the shell survived but the building was demolished in 1955. Many overlapping traumas over time and place become too incomprehensible for our senses, redemption can only be found in the embodiment of compassion, within the organic cycle of creative impulse that leads to greater humanity.

The Pendarves family rose to prominence in Cornwall during the sixteenth to eighteenth centuries as local land and mine owners, with the hub of their estate being focussed on the manor of Treslothan in the west Cornwall parish of Camborne.

Oct 18, 2020 · After Alices death in 1947 , the house seems to have been passed on to her grand-daughter , Winifred Alice Pendarves born 1925 (who had the nickname of “Winkie”) . Winifred Alice married a John Michael Everett Healey in 1942 , a soldier , unfortunately he died not long after in the war , in 1944 .

Camborne is situate in the hundred of Penwith, and hath upon the east Redruth, north Illugan, west Gwynier, south Crowan. For its modern name, Camborne, which was not extant at the time of the Norman Conquest, signifies a crooked or arched burne, or well.

It was in August of 1911 that the original building had burnt down, described as what was, at the time, “the most serious and destructive fire that has occurred in Camborne for about 18...

The surname Pendarvis was first found in Cornwall where they held a family seat as Lords of the Manor of Camborne. Few early records of the family exist and it is not until about the year 1520 that we find Thomas Pendarves seated at Camborne.

May 29, 2022 · In September ministers listed Wynne Pendarves among their ‘foes’, and he voted against them in the crucial civil list division, 15 Nov. 1830. He presented numerous Cornish anti-slavery petitions, particularly from Protestant Dissenters, in November 1830 and March 1831.

There are many beautiful walks from nearby Camborne to Pendarves and Treslothan and up to the top of Copper Hill, an area with the feel and atmosphere of West Penwith and with superb views looking over towards St. Ives and Penzance.
